Along a stardust path I Tread
Bright, clear music in my head
A voice calls out, "Come meet us here!"
The voice is low and sweet and clear
A few more steps and I see fire
Burning embers thrusting higher
Shadows dance about the flame
Chant of She who has no name
I approach with quiet feet...
Then faces turn with smiles so sweet!
Hands held out to welcome me
They take my own and whirl me free
Into the dance with sister Crone!
"Our paths are one e'en with your own"
They say, but still I shake my head
I'm filled with some cold, nameless dread
"I'm frightened of becoming old!
I am still young; I am still bold!
I fear the wrinkles and the grey -
I fear the health that slips away!
To lose my mental faculties;
And what may be far worse than these
I fear that Death will creep and then...
I'll never see the sun again."
I hung my head in fear and shame
Yet... one by one they spoke my name
"We, who were once young and new
We had the same cold fears as you
We watched as youth just slipped away
And yet, we learned to face each day
With courage and with strength renewed
And with empowered attitude
Don't be afraid, and don't be shy
We'll help you as the days pass by
We'll show you, oh, such wondrous things!
